Explosives are kind of a cop-out because they aren't a modern invention anyway. I should have something like dynamite or TNT.

You have not been watching enough documentaries about mining, road construction,fishing illegally and then there's all those action movies. Even guns have their good uses. There was a link I saw recently of a father protecting his family with a chain saw against a mountain lion. So much better to shoot the thing.
