So, Lessons was nominated over at
forbiddenawards.
First of all, Lessons is my first fic project I've actually finished parts of, so I'm kinda incredulous it would garner any attention as I'm not convinced it's all that great. Personally. I know part of this is because I wrote it, and I'll just never be completely satisfied with it. But part of it is that I've seen pretty much the same thing I've written done better. I can even think of one off the top of my head--
leonidaslion's Phthonus verse, to which Lessons is similar, but vastly inferior.
I realise I'm way to close to the story to ever see it objectively, but still. I'm a little crazy about it sometimes. Like, sometimes I worry if it's too close to other stuff, and I worry if I should message people and ask them to see if they think it's too smiliar to their stuff, and then I don't because I'm afraid it will look like I'm just pimping it out, and then I think it's just all in my head anway, but then I think if someone else thinks it too then it wouldn't be just in my head it could actually be considered plagiarism, and around and around I go.Is it in my head, what do you think?
I can get pretty neurotic about it. Most writers worrying about their stuff getting jacked, but I'm worried about whether I'm subconsciously doing the jacking.
But at the same time, I'm flattered and pleased. You know, on top of my neurotic panic.

That is about the time I slowed way down on my reading.
I have not read the piece that you are referring to so can not compare and say I think one way or the other if there is anything subconscious going on. I very much enjoyed your Lessons 'Verse that is why I nominated it.
I'm sure you are fine.
I did have an interesting thing happen though to me. It was after I think the 3rd chapter of Hello Kitty was posted and one of my f-list posted a master fic list and she had a one shot called Hello Kitty.
I read hers. They were completely different, but I did send her a note about the title. She was totally fine with it. But I do understand your concerns.

on 2009-02-22 10:52 pm (UTC)I still accepted the nomination, for instance. Lol.
Also, I'm eager to read your new stuff whenever you get around to it. There's been a saddening lack of Blue on my flist. D:
