Shaving sucks, and other miscellany
Feb. 13th, 2008 02:25 pmSo, in light of my Dad and Co coming to see me this weekend (which, since the little girls are sick, may not happen anyway) I've decided to shave. It sucks. This is not news. I managed to cut myself twice in one swipe. How, you ask? By turning the thingy sideways to get a difficult patch and accidentally bringing it down instead of across. Thus, two of the blades cut my vertically in one swipe. This is the kind of week I'm having.
College also sucks. This is also not news. I've thought a lot about what I would do if I did drop out. I could go back home and get my old job at the library back. Debi, the manager head librarian person, has told me numerous times I'm always welcome there. However, she may be moving on herself by the end of the year, so if I am moving back there I need to get on it. I could also go live with my aunt. She's a school teacher so I'd have the house to myself during the day and could possibly use this time to write. Option three would be going to live with my dad, which I'm not against in principle, but mechanics. They recently gained custody of my older sister's two young girls, and there's just not room for me to live there full time. However, my dad works for two weeks on two weeks off in the town where my mom lives. So if I went with him and came back with him I could kinda have the best of both. The only potential wrench in this scenario is if Debi will let me work for two weeks and then not work and then work, etc. Honestly, I don't see this being a big problem, but one never knows. She loves me, but I kinda put her through some crap junior year.
Just a few days ago I sat down and started doing some writing on this story I've head in my head for awhile. I've decided this is going to be my experiment; if I can get myself to actually work through this and finish it, then I'll be ready to write for real. It's called Devil Cares, and, as I was describing it to (one of) my best friend last night, it's about three brothers who don't get along very well trying to save the world. Mostly it's the two older ones who don't get along, the youngest is a very laid back 21st century type. The brothers' names, even the last name, are all based off guns.

But that's not the only gimmick, oh no. Each chapter title will be the title of a song (mostly old classics, but not always) that is either punned, rearranged, or has had creative punctuation added in. I haven't decided what the update schedule will be yet, but when I have enough chapters that I can play around with it I'll place a link here. I'm only at the second chapter, so I'm not putting it up yet.
I also need to decide who I want to edit it. My aunt (the one I may or may not go live with) usually edits any actual writing I do, but there's content in this story I don't know if she'd be comfy with. My other best friend usually edits any other writing I do, but seeing as how she's actually serious about her college education I'm not sure if it would be fair to ask her. What I really need help with, besides the usual I left out a word stuff, is commas. I regularly abuse comma usage, so that's the biggie.
Well, that's the what, as they say, for now. I'm just surprised I actually made a real entry on this thing.
