I was feeling pretty uninspired tonight, so I wrote for the first prompt that grabbed me. I only said I'd do them all, one a day. Never said in order, lol.

Title: Guardian Angel
Pairings: Sam/Dean
Rating: Gen, actually
Warnings: wincestuous sexual themes, Sam gets pretty down on Castiel
Word Count: 311
Spoilers: Season four in general
Disclaimer: Nothing belongs to me. I make no money and have no rights to the characters etc.

Prompt: guardian angel, noun; a spirit that is believed to watch over and protect a person or a place.

Sam considered himself to be a reasonable person. When he’d been younger, he’d wanted his own life, as most men do. Perfectly reasonable. He’d been drawn back into his former occupation by the death of his fiancé, choosing to hunt again to avenge her. Also reasonable.

But when it came to Dean, all reason flew away. Sam was occasionally aware when he took this thing between them too far, when he became too possessive, too jealous. For awhile he backs off, tolerates Dean’s flirting and number-gathering. So long as that’s all it is. It may be hard, but Sam can be reasonable.

And then there was the matter of Castiel.

It was amazing, wondrous, miraculous getting Dean back, but Sam would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little jealous he couldn’t do it himself. Not to mention the brand in the shape of Castiel’s hand on Dean’s shoulder.

That pissed him off a little. All right, fine. More than a little.

None of Sam’s marks were left behind. Not that he’d ever wanted to hurt his brother, but some of those scars had been the perfectly innocuous childhood kind, and Sam had the opposite number on his own body. But now there was none of that left, like whole decades of their lives just wiped away at the whim of Dean’s guardian angel.

Not that whimsical was really an accurate descriptor of the angel, which Sam knew now that he’d met the self-righteous prick in person. Granted, he was better than Uriel, but that didn’t appear to mean much.

So it burned when Dean would tell Sam the next morning that Castiel had appeared again, burned that there was a part of Dean’s life he couldn’t share. It was times like that Sam could admit, if only to himself, that the whole antichrist thing didn’t seem that bad.
